Social Axe in the News

Salt Lake Magazine

“Enliven date night with an evening of axe throwing. Perhaps you’ve already seen axe-throwing videos, but, if you haven’t, trust me when I say that hurling axes is not just for Vikings. Social Axe Throwing in Ogden can turn even the most peaceable novice into an enthusiastic axe chucker in just one session. Co-owner Brayden Floyd wants to make this lumberjack sport your favorite social outing—or, he hopes, ‘the new date-night idea.'”

The Salt Lake Tribune

“It’s not every day you get a chance to scoop your freshly amputated toes off the ground and hobble into an ER, a long trail of blood dripping behind you.

That might be your nightmare vision when you learn about Social Axe Throwing, Salt Lake City’s contribution to a rapidly growing trend in indoor group recreation. But its founders — who already have a location in Ogden — swear that no one has lost any blood…”

Forbes

“The most fun in Ogden is a visit to the latest sports entertainment craze, Social Axe Throwing. We likened it to throwing darts on steroids. Paired with great music, you’re led by a personal Axe Coach through a fun fast-paced hour of games…”

City Home Collective

“We’re all-too-familiar with the age-old prohibitions of childhood. Don’t play with matches. No running with scissors. For the love of god, get away from that knife. But we still wanted to get our hands on them. We wanted it bad. And it’s that very juvenile urge that serves as the root of an astute new, SLC business…Social Axe Throwing.”

The Salt Project

“It’s not very often when you get to do something as crazy fun as throwing an axe… Over and over and over again. And then you play games throwing axes and life is just about perfect in a very lumberjack kind of way.”

Ski Utah

“Grab a group of friends and walk-in or pre-book a group event at any of our locations at www.socialaxethrowing.com. Either way you will experience the primal thrill of hurling axes at wooden targets while you battle your friend to become the axe-master champ!”

FOX 13

“Social Axe Throwing found a workaround to a liquor law that blocked the business from selling beer.

The axe-throwing business was rejected for a beer license at last month’s meeting of Utah’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. That was because Utah liquor laws were changing, allowing only a specific list of criteria to qualify for a recreational beer license. The law change left out Social Axe Throwing’s Ogden location and a Salt Lake City karaoke lounge hoping to sell beer.”

Utah Booze News Podcast

“On the latest episode of the “Utah Booze News” podcast: Another interesting meeting of Utah’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission! The Salt Lake Tribune‘s Kathy Stephenson and FOX 13’s Ben Winslow talk about how Social Axe Throwing got around Utah’s strict liquor laws so they can sell beer (it involves pool tables) and the “not a lottery” for the rare Pappy Van Winkle bourbon!”
